UST emitters or NIR emitters

In order to lower the total drying time with the Nachlackierung of patches at automobile bodies drastically, the use of emitters with high power densities and penetration depths can be meaningful. Here the use of short-wave UST emitters or NIR emitters is indicated.

On the market NIR emitters admitted wise serious disadvantages, e.g. a short life span and the problem of eye damage, up. IWT developed emitters, which the process-determined disadvantages of NIR emitters not, with the drying process however to identical and even better results to lead for this reason. The IWT emitters exhibit the following characteristics:

  • high penetration depth guarantees the volume heating up
  • Heating in few seconds by high power density
  • Wave band, with which an optimal coupling is reached to the absorption bands of the lacquers with at the same time high power density
  • Special filter for the absorption of unhealthy light parts
  • According to life span conventional infrared emitters

The temperature at the substrate is measured over pyrometers. The temperature measuring points are indicated optically by points of laser. Drying times and temperatures are deposited as data in the automatic controller. After choice of the drying program the IR emitters start. After approx.. 20 seconds the final temperature is reached. Those max. Temperature is supervised during the entire drying program by the control management and the drying process when disturbances is switched off.
